About Kiel
About Kiel
Kiel
is the capital of Schleswig-Holstein, the most northern federal state of
Germany. A charming city of about 240,000 inhapitants,
Kiel has a lot to offer – e. g. one of the largest ferry harbours in
Germany with over two million passengers a year. Kiel is the gate not
only to Scandinavia, but also to the whole Baltic Region. The
harbour is the hub of the Baltic Sea area, with the big passenger- and cruise
liners sailing right into the heart of the city.
But Kiel is more. Kiel's business life
consists mostly of service industries, marine technology, IT-technology
and the educational institutions with more than 30,000 students.
Furthermore Kiel
has become an attractive shopping centre and a favourite location for
congresses
